Product Description

Effortless Under-Bed Storage Access

Nitrogen-charged gas springs raise and hold the mattress platform open, so your RV storage opens and stays open every time — hands-free.

Precision-Matched Gas Spring Force

Each kit is designed to use gas springs specific to the weight of your specific mattress type and size. Always order for your current mattress setup — do not order for a heavier mattress or a future upgrade.

Multiple Sizes Available

Kits are available in Extra Small, Small, Standard, and Oversize configurations to fit a range of compartment depths and mattress weights. Refer to the Size Chart to find the right match for your setup.

Everything Included — Ready to Install

Each kit contains two gas spring lift supports, pre-drilled wood spacer mounting blocks, a complete zinc coated steel mounting hardware set, and step-by-step installation instructions. No additional purchases needed.

Compatibility

Designed for Motor Homes, Fifth Wheels, and Travel Trailers with under-bed storage compartments.

Not compatible with:

  • Bunk beds
  • Fixed-base slide-out beds (deck, mattress, and base must slide together)
  • Side-load bed platforms (contact us to confirm compatibility)
  • Radius corner beds (contact us to confirm compatibility)

Note: Hatchlift Bedlift Kits are designed for new lift-assist installations only. They are not replacement gas springs for existing systems. For replacements, see the Hatchlift Replacement Gas Springs page.

Selecting the Correct Kit

Use the Size Chart on this page to match your setup. To determine the right kit:

  1. Measure the compartment — Open the mattress platform fully and measure the inside depth from the front wall to the back wall of the storage compartment.
  2. Identify your mattress weight — Lite kits are for lightweight/foam mattresses; Standard kits are for standard mattresses; Oversize kits are for heavier or oversized mattresses.
  3. Match to the Size Chart — Select the kit that corresponds to your compartment depth and mattress weight category.

If your measurement falls between two sizes, or you are unsure, contact us at contact@hatchlift.com before ordering.

RV Bedlift Kits FAQs

The gas springs won't compress — is something wrong?

No — this is normal. Bedlift gas springs are pressurized nitrogen cylinders and cannot be compressed by hand. The mattress and all bedding must be in place for the platform to close properly.

The bed won't go down after installation.

First, confirm that the mattress and all bedding are in place — the bedlift will not close without the weight of the mattress. Also verify:

  • The correct kit size was ordered for your compartment and mattress.
  • The vertical measurement from the floor to the bottom of the bed is 39" at installation.
  • The bedlift has been adjusted per the included instructions.

If the issue persists after confirming the above, contact us at contact@hatchlift.com with a photo of the installation and your bed size and configuration.

There's a bulkhead in the middle of my compartment — will it fit?

In most cases, center bulkheads are non-structural and can be notched to accommodate the gas spring. If you are unsure whether yours is structural, check with your RV manufacturer before making any modifications.

My bed has radius corners on a partial platform — will it work?

It depends on the radius size and compartment depth. You may need a smaller kit for your setup. Contact us at contact@hatchlift.com and we'll help you find the right fit.

I ordered the wrong size — what do I do?

Email contact@hatchlift.com with your order number, the correct size you need, and your shipping address. We'll send the right gas springs at no charge. Once your installation is complete, please return the incorrect springs to: Hatchlift Products, 36 Road 6332, Kirtland, NM 87417.

Are these replacement springs for my existing RV bed lift?

No. Hatchlift Bedlift Kits are complete new-installation systems. For replacement springs only, visit the Replacement Gas Springs page.

Do I need help for installation?

A second person is strongly recommended. The mattress platform can be heavy, and holding it open while attaching hardware is much easier with two people.
